Thalassery Fort Wall Conservation Handed Over to ASI

Phase one of the Thalassery Fort wall stabilisation programme has been formally handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India.

NDVPL has formally handed over phase one of the Thalassery Fort wall conservation programme to the Archaeological Survey of India, following completion of structural stabilisation works along approximately 180 metres of the historic laterite fortification.

The works addressed active stone delamination and mortar loss caused by decades of salt-laden coastal weathering. Consolidation was carried out using a combination of stone pinning, lime grouting, and selective stone replacement matched to the original laterite quarry source where possible.

Phase two, scheduled to begin next quarter, will address drainage at the wall crown and repair of the deteriorated parapet sections — both identified during phase one as priority follow-on works.
